ATTN: READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE ATTEMPTING INSTALLATION

Notice: Warranty may be voided at the discretion of the manufacturer if these instructions are not followed.

Tools required for installation: PVC saw or hack saw, marking pencil, PVC cement and PVC primer, tape measure, screw driver (flat head), multi meter. (Large channel locks if union needs to be loosened)

Electrode Chamber Installation:

The electrode chamber is the 2” Tee with the metal bars inserted into the center port. The ends are 2” in diameter, if you are dealing with 1 ‘/2” lines you will need to get 2- 2” x 1/2" pressure reducing bushings from the hardware store to complete your installation.

The chamber should be installed after the filter (and the heater if you have one), into the return line for the pool.

For a 2” installation you will need a section of pipe 5 “ long to accept the length of the chamber, however, you will need only to cut out a section 2 “ long to perform your installation.

Do Not Install Electrode Chamber Directly Into A Metal Pipe. If your pool is plumbed with metal pipe you will need to cut out a section and convert it to PVC before installing the electrode chamber.

After cutting out the section of PVC where the electrode chamber is to be installed you will need to use liberal amounts of PVC primer on both of the ends of the electrode chamber to be glued and also on both pipe ends to be glued.

Once the primer has dried apply liberal amounts of PVC glue to both ends of the chamber and also both ends of the pipe.

You will need to quickly insert both ends of the pipe into the electrode chamber making sure that the pipe goes all the way into the chamber and hold for 30 seconds to allow the glue to set.

Controller Installation:

Your controller is preset at 115 volts. Warning: Hooking your controller up to 230 volts will blow your controller and void your warranty.

From your controller you will notice 2 sets of wires, one is your power cord and one is your leads for the electrodes.

Place the female spade ends onto the male spade ends at the electrodes, spade ends for the electrodes are interchangeable so as not to be concerned to make a mistake.

The power cord from the controller needs to be wired in such a way so that the controller comes on whenever the pump comes on.

The easiest way to do this is to wire the controller to the backside of the pump. In cases where the pump is wired 230 volts you only need to pull one leg of the power from the pumps electrical wiring, this will give you your 115 volts.

You will be able to test this using your multi-meter; if there is any question as to whether you are able to do this, you should consult a qualified electrician.

Start Up & Operation:

At start up you will need to balance your water. Proper water balance is as follows:

Calcium Hardness:

l50 ppm to 250 ppm. This should be checked at the beginning of every season, after that you should not have to test your calcium again.

Alkalinity:

80 ppm to 120 ppm. Once this is balanced you should only have to test this about once a month. If your ph is out of line always test your alkalinity before adjusting your ph.

To Raise the TA Level

Check the chart to see how much baking soda is needed to raise the TA level as desired. Do not attempt to raise it more than about 50 ppm at one time. If the TA is at or below 50 ppm, be sure to test for metals in solution before adding Soda Ash or Baking Soda to the pool.

To increase TA using Baking Soda

Desired Increase in PPM

Gallonage of pool or spa

*Note: Do not add more than 10 lbs per 10,000 gallons of water at one time. If the pool requires more than this, add the maximum amount then retest 12 hours later and make further adjustments. If your TA is 50 ppm or lower, treat for possible metals in solution before adding Baking Soda.

Adding Baking Soda to a Pool

Slurry the baking soda in a bucket and pour the dissolved solution into the pool.

To Lower the TA Level

Check the chart to see how much acid is required to drop the TA in your pool to the proper level. Do not add more than one quart of acid per 10,000 gallons at one time. If more acid than this is needed, then make one adjustment, then retest before making another adjustment. As always if your readings don't make sense, seek the advice of a professional.

To Decrease TA using Muriatic Acid

Desired decrease in PPM

Do not add more than 10 lbs per 10,000 gallons of water at one time. If the pool requires more than this, add the maximum amount then retest 12 hours later and make further adjustments. If your TA is 50 ppm or lower, treat for possible metals in solution before adding Baking Soda.

Adding Muriatic Acid to Lower TA Level

Add the Muriatic Acid to the pool in one pint shots in the deep end. Brush the pool afterwards to insure that the acid does not drop down to the bottom and etch the surface since acid is heavier than water.

BEWARE OF THE DANGEROUS NATURE OF THE CHEMICALS YOU ARE HANDLING. DO NOT MIX ANY CHEMICALS WITH EACH OTHER. WATCH OUT FOR FUMES. SOME CHEMICALS GIVE OFF STRONG FUMES THAT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY IF INHALED IN SUFFICIENT QUANTITIES. MSDS SHEETS ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.

PH:

You will want your ph between 7.2 and 7.8, once you have your pool balanced you will only need to test your pool on average of once weekly.

Copper Ionization:

Once your pool is balanced you will then need to ionize. Start by turning your controller to its highest setting which is 10. You will need to allow your pool pump and filter to run 24 hours a day until your copper level is up to 0.5 ppm.

Once you have achieved this level you should be able to turn your controller down depending on the size of your pool. The smaller the pool the farther down you will be able turn it. We suggest turning the setting to 5 and checking every few days until you find the “sweet spot” for your pool. If the copper level goes above .6 ppm then turn setting to 2 and gradually increase until you reach a copper level of .5 ppm.

Most pool owners learn their copper needs of their pool in two weeks. However, the bather load (number of people using the pool) can make significant impact on the copper needs.

Your electrodes are guaranteed for 2 years, however, you may experience as much as 5 to 6 years of life from them. When your electrodes need to be replaced make sure that they are installed into the chamber so that the water flows between the electrodes and not against them, this could restrict water flow.

You will know that your electrodes need to be replaced when either, you are no longer able to maintain your copper level in your pool, or the electrodes will start leaking from the chamber.
